The main UX challenge was designing a coherent experience for multiple user profiles, including accountants, HR managers, directors, and employees, each with different needs and levels of expertise.
Another key challenge was managing a high volume of information within limited screen space. By applying UX best practices such as clear visual hierarchy, progressive disclosure, and modular layouts, complex data could be displayed on a single screen while remaining readable, structured, and efficient for expert users.
Hoggo is a French start-up founded in 2018 that helps companies manage employee health insurance contracts at scale. I joined the company in 2020 and contributed to the design of both a web-based HR platform and a mobile application used by thousands of companies across France.
Working within the product team led by Juliette, Head of Product, I collaborated closely with a team of Ruby on Rails developers supervised by Louis, co-founder and CTO. My role focused on designing tools enabling directors and HR teams to efficiently manage key HR processes such as holidays, shift management, expense reports, bonuses, and sick leave.
The visual identity already existed before my arrival. I refined it by introducing blue and green gradients to add freshness, and by reinforcing purple as a primary color. Purple conveys stability, expertise, and credibility while also bringing a sense of modernity, which is particularly relevant for an insurance-focused product that must inspire confidence while remaining accessible and innovative.
To support Hoggo’s rapid growth, I created the company’s first design system based on atomic design principles. Built in Adobe XD and documented with Zeroheight, it helped standardize components, improve consistency across the product, and accelerate feature development.
In parallel with the web platform, I designed Hoggo’s mobile application dedicated to employees. The app allows users to view reimbursements, access detailed insurance information, submit claims, send health quotes, and plan hospitalizations.
As the application was developed externally, I collaborated closely with the Product Owners and development teams of the BAM agency in Paris to ensure consistency with the web experience. The app is available on both the App Store and the Play Store.
